Huacachina UTV Dune Ride and Sandboarding
from US$ 59.46 per vehicle
You ride in a private, factory-built Can-Am or Polaris-type UTV with a roll cage, rally seats and 4- and 5-point harnesses, while a driver-instructor takes you through the Huacachina dunes for an hour. Expect steep climbs, drops and fast turns.
At two stops you get a semi-pro board and learn to slide down lying face first on your stomach; it is optional, so you can just watch. The third stop is the viewpoint over the lagoon and the whole oasis. Departures run between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with up to 3 people per vehicle; if you want the ride to end close to sunset, pick one of the last departures, although sunset time changes with the season. Around midday the sand gets very hot, so wear closed shoes and bring sunglasses, a cap and sunscreen.
